This photo features a long road, but it is short on the truth of what you will find in this post. Although I live in the land of saguaros and sunshine, this post features short lines, not the Sonoran Desert’s year-round short hem lines. ๐ Writing is the topic of my fourth edition of Saturday Shorts. ๐

โWriting is a form of therapy; sometimes I wonder how all those who do not write, compose, or paint can manage to escape the madness, melancholia, the panic and fear which is inherent in a human situation.โ
Graham Greene

I especially like the letter to the blank page and the joy of the typewriter. Great words to ponder. Thanks!

We use up and fill up many blank pages, don’t we? ๐After a major computer crash a few days ago, I was feeling nostalgic about typing on a typewriter. Thank you. ๐

Writing asks a lot from us, especially if we choose to share our writing, but for those of us who accept the challenge, the rewards, like connecting with other writers and showing vulnerability, are worth the effort.
Thank you. ๐ Happy writing!

Iโve been to Arizona once. I remember flying over a red desert landscape and then we went over a mountain range then it opened up to complete city urban environment. Which was Phoenix.
I did a little work in Yuma which was pretty crazy!

Right, you are! Those “short” words I cannot take credit for, but that mnemonic has been helpful. I am happy to share. Thanks to you! ๐

I loved the writing on the learning of new words and sounds! I am fascinated by how the tone of voice, accent, or spelling affect the way a word changes meaning. I see I am not alone in my musing either. ๐
My mother being from Pakistan, I say my ‘A’s’ differently, which sometimes leads to amusing confusion over such words as ‘tomato’, ‘can’t, and ‘ranch’.

We are in good word company, you and I. ๐
I can understand how A’s pronounced differently can lead to amusing confusion. ๐ It is amazing how many different dialects there are, just in the U.S.
Thank you for your visit. Enjoy your weekend. ๐

This is such a power-packed beautiful post! It acknowledges the twists and turns of a writer’s process, some to the point reminders, and then some nudges of reminders that are much needed.

Why thank you! A post that started with a photo of some power-packed legs. haha There are so many topics we can write about, when it comes to writing and words, the building blocks of our craft. I should do a writing post a few times per year.
Thank you for reading and sharing your always appreciated thoughts. ๐

Abubaker, thank you for stopping by. I am pleased to read that you enjoyed my “Saturday Shorts” post. I post every Saturday, either a poem or short story. Occasionally, I post during the week too. These short poems are a bit different than my norm, but they are fun to write and create.

Writing is indeed a form of therapy – and a very good one at that!

Absolutely! I have always loved the simplicity of writing. Meaning, we need very few tools to create with writing and yet, words on a piece of paper (or screen) can yield tremendous healing, and power to change (minds, hearts, and lives).

Your article is very inspiring, Michele. I think it was Confucius who once said: “Even the longest way begins with a first step.”
If someone hasn’t been creative before, it’s never too late to start.
Graham Greene’s quote is so true.
Great words to think about. Many Thanks, Michele!
I wish you all the bestโฆ ๐๐
