Desert Blooms

An office with a window view
has been transformed into a garden,
thanks to you.

Spring has ushered in a month
of sharing what Divinity has
so graciously given.

Colors and fragrance burst from
my screen, flooding my senses
and drawing me in.

I pause, I gaze, I smile, I breathe.
I pluck one from each
brilliant share.

A sea of tulips painted pink washed over me,
so beautiful to behold
my eyes did weep.

I add each flower to a container
that expands and supports
global floral life.

A bursting bouquet not confined
to one region or place,
now thriving in a
magical vase.

I offer mine as a token of affection.
I hope you add it to your collection,
but do be careful, because
gorgeous desert blooms
can poke and slice!
🌞🌵

Thanks for visiting my desert garden and thank you to those who have shared their precious petals from around the world. 🌷😊 Be well and enjoy spring. 🌻 Michele

    1. Thank you, Ananda. I am glad you mentioned that. That is the first time ever… that cactus has bloomed like that. I am glad I captured it, because the blooms last only a few days. BTW, the water is from the hose not rain. That is also a rare treat! 😆

Though I am too big to pick in a vase, I will acceptable this magical moment, spark by your beauty that can only report the beautiful blooming. 🌹🌞😉

  3. I am enchanted, Michele, by your expressive narrative in which desert blooms and petals tame a wild place without crushing its spirit in both sandy soil and in a magical vase. Flowers are eloquent and a practice in consciousness and honoring.
    Thank you for sharing!

    1. Jaya, I love how you have described the delicate, yet potentially dangerous flowers that bloom from cacti. Nature is incredible and adaptable and beauty finds a way, even if it must protect itself with painful thistles and thorns. Love your words! You just wrote Desert Blooms, Part 2. 💖 Thank you.

  4. The poem is beautiful, Michele.
Yes, our world is full of wonders. One only has to look around and see fascinating small and large wonders everywhere. Two years ago I was on vacation on the volcanic island of “Lanzarote”. There was an extraordinary “cactus garden” laid out in terraces. I was very impressed by the variety of cacti and the beauty of their flowers.
    Michele, have a nice weekend…🌸🌸

    1. Thank you, Rosie. Your comments are so thoughtful. Your memory sounds wonderful. The desert can be harsh, but it does have its own beauty and yes, the variety of cacti is quite extraordinary, especially when they bloom. 🌵 Have an inspired weekend. 🌻

      1. I agree with you, Michele and wish you a nice and relaxed weekend. In our garden the evening-sun is shining and it’s already quite warm. We will sit down in front of our garden shed and drink a glass of white wine…we will sit down in front of our garden shed and drink a glass of white wine.we will sit down in front of our garden shed and drink a glass of white wine…🍷

    1. You are so kind. 🙏🏻😊 I love this poem. I loved writing it and I loved recollecting on all the beautiful blooms I had seen around the world, prior to writing that poem, including your shares. Cacti do bloom in the spring and many flowers do not last for long, so one must look and enjoy while they can. The yellow flower, in the first picture, appeared and shriveled up within 48 hours. I am so glad I caught it!! Another beautiful desert event are the blooming wildflowers. Unfortunately, we have had little rain over the last year, with no monsoon to speak of, so those are not as abundant this year. Hopefully, the rains will return the season. 🤞🏻
