A Pitter-Patter brought Peace

A pitter-patter on the rooftop did rouse me from sleep during early Christmas Eve. Too early for Santa, that much I knew, but beyond that I did not have a clue. I did not rise to see what was the matter, I just listened a bit longer… rain was the sound I heard… a sound somewhat unfamiliar for desert dwellers. The rainy tunes that lulled me back to sleep lasted the full day through, delivering record rainfall for the valley of the sun. The nonstop rain created a wintery desert scene, nourishing plants and cleansing dusty streets. Like the gentle and cleansing drops that fell, my day delivered moments that washed over me, bringing love, hope, and peace.

Merry Christmas to you and yours!

“Times Like These” (lyrics)

I believe in the stories of the stars
And times like these, constellations carry me
From old ones past
I believe that the Milky Way still flows
And times like these, dreaming carried forward with us
The spirit grows
And I believe in the wisdom of my boy
Just ten years old
He said: I believe when each star burns out a child is born
And I believe in the people standing tall
And times likes these, hands raised with intention
To heal the world

And I believe that we can breathe in the magic of our Earth
And I believe that we can exhale anything we feel we didn’t deserve
I believe there was a man called Jesus Christ
And in times like these he said: treat each other equally
In times like these
And I believe in the words of the Dali Lama
In times like these, with peace and love and unity
In times like these
And I believe in the movement of the tide
In times like these
And the mystery of the moon
In times like these
I believe in the circuit of the sun
In times like these
And its magnetic properties
And human beings
And I believe in a simple thing called love
In times like these
When a woman finds a man and they can be
In times like these
And I believe that the spirit is reborn when we die
With no burden of the body
We’re free to fly
And I believe in the people standing tall
And times likes these, hands raised with intention
To heal the world
heal the world

Through the pouring rain, to grandmother’s house we did go! Her home was filled with the spirit of Christmas and her offerings were delicious, and she loved my cake. Bonus! Thank you for visiting and reading. Be well. 💗 Michele

I shared a rainy reel on my Instagram feed. If that’s your cup of tea, check it out @mlsefton

I remember the smell of the rain in the desert! When I first moved to Tucson the fecund smell put me off, but we soon grew to love it! Now I miss it! Merry Christmas to you and yours!

Yes, we hiked there many times. Went off trail and got lost on Easter weekend but found our way out safely by ourselves! Awesome place!

      1. Hello my dancing queen. I am so elated to hear that you got rain as a gift for Christmas! These days, that’s truly a gift right?

I am so sorry to respond at this moment. I took a couple of days to do some much needed work before the end of this week. THEN…There was some “Serial Like Button” presser, who went down my posts, liking about 30 of my recent consecutive posts, and I know they didn’t read them because they were all done in 2 minutes. Thus this sent my legitimate followers down my unread messages! 🤬 I so hate when someone does that! Anywho, you are so right about the year. I pray for hope, happiness and good health to you as well my dear friend! Have an awesome day…and dance your tush off!!! 😁💃🏻🍹💃🏽🌟🎶🍾

  2. The smell of rain in the desert! And the sight of the rain – I remember the joy when I lived in AZ for some years, it is a different kind than the one we experience here in CA. Your post is so rich with the blessed feeling of an amazing Christmas – I am enjoying it now, one week into January 🙂

    1. Yes, the refreshing smell of rain in the desert. An occurrence that doesn’t happen too often – I suppose that makes it more meaningful when it does rain. I love that my Christmas post has continued significance. It is a nice thought to carry a little bit of Christmas with us all year. 😊 Thank you for your generous time, catching up with my posts. I am grateful. 🙏🏻
