Deliberate Decisions

The decisions of a few
have angered the masses
The decisions of millions
are altering the planet
Life is a delicate balance –
a series of individual choices
With outcomes sometimes decided by others

“With our equal rights and justice, it’s unattainable, just like our future if we don’t live sustainable. Money and privilege can make you feel unbreakable. What we gonna do when no clean air is available?”

~Jah Sun from Hold a Vibe

What an ironic day the fourth was. A memorable impression was made by the juxtaposition of celebratory fireworks and the songs of freedom playing in the background while protestors practiced the First Amendment, chanting, “My Body, My Choice” in the foreground. Thank you for visiting. Be well. 💗 Michele

It was indeed an ironic 4th. A celebration of freedom while other freedoms were denied. I guess we’re going back to when the country was founded and women held no rights but were the property of men. Are we celebrating the freedom of white men?

    1. No doubt. We seem to be existing during the precursor to The Handmaid’s Tale. It doesn’t seem real and yet, it is. I spent some time reading about the S.C. Decision before writing this post. Not surprising, every resource I looked at had conflicting information. Ironic and unreliable times! Thank you for your articulate comment, Tamara.

  2. Michele girlfriend you nailed this. 🔨🔨🔨 It seems like an oxymoron when speaking about the freedoms mentioned in the Declaration of Independence, and what states are currently rewriting to fit their desires and fan base. This year’s holiday didn’t feel like it typically does in years past, but of course, that was probably evidence of the irrational and rapid decisions made leading up to the 4th. I loved your poem that denotes the characteristics of the big divide we are seeing and experiencing. Excellent job my dancing queen! 💃🏼🎶💃🏽And BTW that jam by Jah Sun is slammin’ ladybug. 🥳💋😘💖😉🦋🤗

    1. Thank you so much, Kymbelina. Too bad it isn’t a coffin that I can nail shut! The scenario would almost be comical if it weren’t so real! I passed the opposition – a serious camouflage-wearing bunch. I would have taken their picture too, but based on the intimidating looks I received, I thought I better not! Rain or shine, sadness or sublime, we keep dancing, don’t we? Until our last breaths! 😘

      1. There you go my girl. You got the right attitude. 🤜🏼🤛🏼 I suppose it’s hard for us to understand, especially since we are compassionate, kind, generous, and loving individuals. We try to see and understand both sides, but somehow it seems like one side is weaponizing their stance, which causes the other side to snap back and then, that’s how the fight got started. SMH 🙄🥊😟🥊😲

“Rain or shine, sadness or sublime, we keep dancing, don’t we? Until our last breaths!” I agree…💯💯💯…besides who else is going to? 🤔🤩🦋😘💖🥰🌺😊

  3. It must have been a curious juxtaposition, Michele. Troubling times, and women must feel this most keenly. I am disturbed by what I see happening across the Atlantic! Meanwhile, our government is falling apart, and the Prime Minister doesn’t have the decency to stand down!

    1. Yes, the scene and the combined sounds felt surreal. It truly is hard to believe! I saw a few headlines this morning that announced your PM is resigning. I hope the transition is a smooth one for all of you. That may be too grand of an ask when it comes to politics!

      1. We just laugh about these political dramas! But if a political decision suddenly took away our human rights, it would be no laughing matter…

  4. I hope the women remember in the next election dear Michele. Vote out the old fools. No reason for 40 year in office Senators and House Rep. Should be 8 year limits. I will research them this year. No-one need a machine gun and no-one should be able to tell a women what to do with her body.

  5. Wonderful inspiring verses on such an ironic day of the year, Michelle. Beautifully penned. ❤
I know I can't add anything meaningful for such a distressing week, but I hope the right people see sense and that soon a wrongful ruling is reversed.
