we are not our voices
discussing
aging parents,
men,
kids,
politics,
and relationships
we are not our choices
that leave us
pondering,
questioning,
understanding,
revising,
and releasing
we are who we’ve
always been –
playful spirits
hushed by life’s
demands
we found each other
again –
laughing at life’s
silly shit

“Each friend represents a world in us, a world possibly not born until they arrive, and it is only by this meeting that a new world is born.”
― Anais Nin
A joke with a visual punchline. Read, then watch video:
We noticed a solo seagull floating downstream toward the sea. Bouncing over waves, he seemed to be enjoying his very own waterpark ride. This observation may be hard to believe… he looked happy and carefree. A seagull happy? How can that be? We laughed at the sight of him. Once he reached the end of his ride (just before his river rapids were swallowed by ocean waves) he walked out of the water. We joked about him going back for another “ride.” This is what we witnessed:
Life has a way of offering sweet surprises.
How wonderful it is when we notice them. ✨

I have been reconnecting with nature and resetting my rhythm in Oregon this week with my daughter and friends.
The featured location takes on an entirely different tone and hue this time of year, compared to June, when my friend, Patricia and I were last in Florence, Oregon. Check out video from that visit: “Poshbean and Tumbleweed at the Beach”
Thanks for reading and viewing. Be well. 💗 Michele
Photos: taken by me unless I am in them, then they were taken by Poshbean Photo locations: Florence, Oregon, Cape Cove Beach, and Heceta Lighthouse

Just spent 6 days in California with my life-time best friend. There’s nothing quite like re-telling old stories..laughing at private jokes, sharing new experiences in a long-line of shared ones, just so much “unsaid” because she can fill in the blanks because she knows what I’m thinking before I can give voice to it…really nothing like spending time with long-time (not old) friends.

Being a grown-up can sometimes make us grumpy. 😆 Whenever possible we should connect with the playful spirit that dwells within. It is a treasure when we can do so with friends, partners, or happy seagulls. 😁 Thank you, Ingrid. I must agree – we didn’t make a splash, but we had as much fun! 😊

Oh my goodness Michele, I simply adored that seagull. I love his carefree spirit and laidback attitude. Wish I could have joined him/her. Your pictures are worth 1.000 words and your summation, “I have been reconnecting with nature and resetting my rhythm in Oregon this week with my daughter and friends” is so refreshing. We (or should I say scientists) actually have no idea what goes on in a non-human brain. It may well be that a seagull can experience joy, and why not?!
