I felt it leave
fierce it tore,
like a commanding lover
burning violet flames in his core
I could do nothing to stop the veil
from slipping
away
only a second to say farewell
to all I’d clung to
to all I’d known
only a second to prepare for
what I might
become
not afraid
I stood
ready
to feel the blaze of a thousand emotional infernos
exploding within me when the second was done
overwhelming my senses with the promise of more to come
one hundred lifetimes contained in that second
those lifetimes, I cannot recollect
but my soul knows
my soul knows
those lifetimes have prepared me
for the profound transformation
that, with an explosion
of every emotion,
did come

Thank you for visiting! Be well. 💗 Michele
A special addition: Artist Anne Fisher created a wonderful post in my honor, well in honor of one of my favorite foods: Pumpkin Curry. I enjoy her artistic work. Check it out!
Music note: I love a dreamy tune that I can float my thoughts and limbs to. 💃🏻 Sometimes I need to turn it up a notch or two. 🎸Sometimes, songs, and women, need to be fierce. I would love to hear this song remade by a powerful female voice. I will get right on it! 😁

You got me at this line: “ one hundred lifetimes contained in that second”. I’ve had seconds that could be described in exactly the same way. Well written Michelle. Just lovely.

Honest to God, Michele, I can begin reading your poetry…and part way through I can “feel” a shiver run through me as I take in what you’ve expressed. You’re poetry should come with a warning! Dang!
Thank you for sharing!

That’s quite a reaction to my poetry. A fabulous one! 😁 Like most poets, it is often the heightened experiences in life that inspire me and move me to write poetry. Learning that comes through for you is excellent feedback for me. Thank you, Art, for reading and sharing your experience. 🙏🏻

Letting go is one of the hardest things one can do. Yet the aftermath bathes you in freedom and hope and love. This was a beautiful poem. I felt every line.
