Ripples in the Deep

Come to me
with a full thimble or a leaking pail,
either will do
How you arrive is less important
than what transpires between
me and you

Under armor, dull
I see your potential
Your tarnished shield will shine
and your edges, once blunt, will now delicately slice
through limiting beliefs
and life’s limitless nonsense

Together, banded
two minds
can turn the dullest stones
            into jeweled thrones

Find me
            swimming under the stars
            playing in the deep

on you, I will focus intently
with you, time will cease to be
the stars twinkling individually
will become a blur above you, above me

Find me
where joy and truth are sacred
            where hearts will be connected

Between us, a universe will forever exist,
however extended or brief your visit

Welcome to March! Thank you for visiting and reading. Be well. 💗 Michele

  1. Thank you for the inspirational poem. I’d just read someone else’s more negative outlook about nearly everything, so it feels particularly refreshing at the moment (not that their outlook was invalid, but… You know….)

    Take care ✨

    1. It is a gift to both write and receive the poetry of others in bloggy land. Thank you for appreciating my work! Poetry allows us to express every emotion, including “everything” that is wrong, but, yes, I know. 👍🏻 Thank you, you as well. 🌻

      1. It is good that my poem made you think. “Too much” might be too much. 😁 Teasing aside, most of my poems have multiple layers and their own purpose and personality. Once I release them, the greatest joy is people interpreting them in ways that connect to their own life.

  2. Oh what a beautiful poem Michele my Belle. This song is a perfect accompaniment and the music itself would be perfect background music for your poem! By the way, your photos are so charming and reflective. I love everything about this post my Dancing Queen! 🥰💖😍🥂🤗

    1. Thanks so much, Kymmy, for listening to the song and enjoying my poem. I had a few songs in mind. 🎶 We are heading into wildflower season followed by blooming cactus season. I look forward to sharing more natural beauty. Much gratitude to you! 🤗💖 Dancing? Yes, it is almost that time. Yay! 💃🏻 💃🏽

  5. I read the poem twice and ‘saw’ two totally different things. The first time I read it as a couple, completely intertwined, with a ‘two as one’ existence. The second time though, I see a worn soul, showing up, worn down on the edges by life, yet an expertise at making it through hard times and with an earned ability to turn troubled into sparkly. ❤️ I have no idea what your poem is actually about and I will tell you what, there is such an en-living beauty in that. Wonder what I’ll get the third time. 🥰🦋❤️ You have an amazing way with words. I once read when writing, not to describe something, but to let the words lead the reader. You do that very well.

    1. You are a star student, Jessica. 🌟😁 I should be so lucky to have a student like you! You have honored me with your detailed reaction to my poem and you have described one of the beautiful attributes of poetry – discovering new ideas and connections with each read, including returning to a poem at a different point in our life. I will share, since you have so graciously given your time and thoughts, that this poem actually began as a poem about not liking small talk, then I/it wound its way to this piece. An interesting writing journey! As it usually is. This poem is actually the second half of the original poem. Perhaps I will publish the first half someday. 🤔😄 Thank you for reading twice and sharing your thoughts. Wonderful!

      1. Hi- what a generous response- I’ve never been a star student before. Simply mediocre. You’ve complimented me times a trillion. Thank you. Thank you for sharing your poems roots, from what I know about poetry, sometimes the roots are tender or personal, though at other times they’re just an idea that comes along at some random moment. What I love about poetry is there’s often times a lot of meaning in not so many words. And, also, just because I read it one way, doesn’t mean that someone else saw it the same way. That is the gift of writing. Words resonate differently with all of us and in being able to sift through the collection of letters, spaces, commas, and phrases all arranged under a title, sometimes we are gifted the magic of the connection to the poem. I’m so glad you’re a writer. I hope you’ll consider publishing the first half. I’m interested in hearing about not liking small talk. Ditto on that. 🥰🥰🥰

      1. Thanks for your gracious understanding. I know it happens, but I don’t like when it happens. 😒 Occasionally, I notice missing replies when I know I’ve replied. 🤔 We do our best! Enjoy your evening. 😘 Hope weather is manageable for you all.
