A poet’s picture post

“See the world. It’s more fantastic than any dream made or paid for in factories. Ask for no guarantees, ask for no security.”

Revisiting beautiful parts of the world by scrolling through travel photos and listening to 80s tunes is a rather pleasant way to start the weekend. 🎶 My photo post is submitted to “Thursday Doors.” Thanks to Dan Antion for the opportunity to join in! 🚪My photos are from a few countries: Germany, Belgium, and the Netherlands. Thank you for stopping by. A wonderful weekend to you! 🕊️ Michele

    1. Not if you row a boat. 🚣🏻‍♀️ Joking aside, you are right, Pete. It is a collective issue. I’m not sure that my daily choices negate my individual impact of flying a few times a year, but I do my best, in many ways, and I will continue to explore, and visit my daughter, whenever I can.

      1. I suspect boats will be pretty filthy cos they’ll mostly be diesel, surely? I reckon the cleanest way is electric train but there again it depends how the electricity is created, and we’re all pretty useless there.
It’s funny, isn’t it? Our parents’ generation was probably the most mobile generation, just because anybody our age will have to battle all the guilt associared with travel.

      2. Yes, row boats are fine for the lake, but traveling across a vast ocean requires a vessel much larger and more destructive to marine life and their precious water home. More environmental issues. Even if we “stay put” goods still traverse across the planet. I often think about my ancestors traveling to America on boats. Many thoughts and feelings associated with that. My parents were not mobile, except to the lake and one family trip to Iowa, but I know what you mean. I’m all for going back to the basics. Garden, rotary phone, bicycle, paper & pencil… just a few more trips and I’m on board! Thank you for sharing thoughts, Pete. Greatly appreciated.

      1. Our weather temps must be flip-flopped. It’s only 89 degrees here. Of course, it’s only just after 10 am and the sun’s still super intense. ☀️ Better to stay inside and listen to some tunes. Thank you for sharing and stay cool. 🪭

    1. It’s great fun, including the looking through later part – discovering things I didn’t see the first time. Isn’t that a standout door. 😃 Thank you for the wonderful comment, Rebecca.

    1. Thanks Barb and yes, that is a bird. I’m glad you enjoyed the quotes. Why not the 80s? 😄 Although I love a variety of musical genres, I am an 80s girl. 🎵 What kind of music do you listen to?

      1. I also love music of all genres, and enjoy finding my way through modern tunes (and I listen to all you post), but those that move my feet and cause me to break out in song come from the late 60s-mid-70s. Hey Jude …. It is what it is!

    1. Thank you, Linda! Your comment has me smiling because I feel that way when I ride around the Valley. It’s great to be out, wherever it is. 😊 I do love noticing things in travel photos after the fact. 👍🏻

  2. Beautiful photos. I really like the red door with the brewery sign, it’s my favorite color. I’m not sure what brands they’re serving there, but the beers from that region are excellent, so it’s all good. 🍻

    1. Red is a bold color that definitely pops! I had such a great time zipping around taking photos, I missed my opportunity to get a Belgium Waffle. Darn! All good though. Cheers and thank you Edward! 🍻

      1. 😂 I just caught that. The brain is powerful. I swear I read it one way. I know there’s a name for that, but I can’t remember it right now. Well, now you have a new item on your to-do list for when you visit again.

  3. I guess you closed comments on the next post because of your deadline, but I just wanted to say that I appreciated it. Night and day sounds like me and my husband. Not sure how we hold it together. But it’s good that your daughter is a treasure for you both and not a battlefield xx

      1. Although I don’t know your circumstances, I do understand. I just started venturing out a few years ago, after a lifetime of dreaming. It is a romantic notion to set out and see the world – for most of us, travel takes planning, saving, resources, and an alignment of timing. For me, it also took overcoming the fear of travel.
